Lyme Regis
The unspoilt seafront of Lyme Regis, with its sheltered, south-facing beaches, attracts families year after year wanting a mix of activity and relaxation. The town’s famous Cobb wall, which dates back to the 13th century, provides protection for the harbour and has made the town an important port on Devon’s south coast.
As well as walking along the Cobb, pay a visit to the Lyme Regis Museum, built on the birthplace of prolific fossil hunter and palaeontologist Mary Anning. The museum’s perfect for those wanting to learn more about the Jurassic Coast and its geological wonders.
Every May Day Bank Holiday weekend, the town holds a Fossil Festival, offering a mix of walks, talks, music, theatre, exhibits and hands-on science for children.
