The UK’s largest public event dedicated to palaeontology, the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival returns to the heart of the Jurassic Coast for another weekend of science, discovery and family-friendly fun.
Lyme Regis is famously associated with pioneering fossil hunter Mary Anning, whose discoveries changed our understanding of prehistoric life, and the area remains one of the world’s great fossil-hunting locations. The festival makes full use of that extraordinary setting, drawing visitors, scientists and fossil enthusiasts from across the country for expert talks, hands-on activities, exhibitions, performances, palaeoart workshops and trade stands.
Entry to the festival is free, and most events and activities require no booking. The festival runs from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday. A small number of ticketed events are also available for those who want to go deeper.
Brilliant for families, science lovers and anyone who has ever wondered what lies beneath the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast.
