Event Information

Lyme Regis Carnival Week runs from 31st July to 8th August 2026, filling the town with free events for all ages while raising money for local good causes. The week builds from a fireworks display on the Friday to a full carnival procession the following Saturday, with highlights in between that have become firm traditions on the Jurassic Coast calendar.

Fireworks | Friday 31st July, 9:30 pm

The week opens with a fireworks display launched from the Cobb, lighting up the bay and signalling the start of carnival season.

Torchlight Procession | Saturday 1st August, 9pm

One of the most atmospheric events of the week. Torchbearers follow the Mayor and Town Crier through Langmoor Gardens before descending to the beach, where participants form a ring of fire on the sand and use their torches to light a beacon. Torches can be reserved in advance via the carnival website or collected from 8pm at the Langmoor Gardens entrance on the night, subject to availability. Demand is high, so booking ahead is strongly recommended.

Wacky Wheelbarrow Race | Wednesday 5th August

7:30pm Pairs compete with a wheelbarrow from Cobb Gate Car Park along Cart Road and up to Marine Parade, finishing outside SWIM. Each team must swap positions at the halfway point. Fancy dress is encouraged and trophies are awarded for best-dressed teams as well as fastest finishers. Spectators are welcome to line the route.

Duck Race | Thursday 6th August, 12pm

Tickets available online, from the purple carnival kiosk by the Jubilee Pavilion on Marine Parade, or from 11am at the Duck Race start at Windsor Terrace.

Carnival Procession | Saturday 8th August, 8pm

The week’s grand finale. The procession sets off from Holmbush car park and makes its way down Pound Street and Broad Street to Cobb Gate, then along Cart Road and Marine Parade to Cobb Square, ending at Monmouth car park. Thousands line the route to watch floats, music and dancing wind through the town.
