Taste East Devon food and drink festival


This year’s Taste East Devon showcases the best food and drink across East Devon. There’s an abundance of events to choose from across the region with special menus, tasting experiences, BBQs, and parties.

Some events are ticketed, others are free to attend.

Here’s a selection of events throughout the 16-day festival.

Totally Devon Menu at The Jack in the Green

9 – 23 September 

Enjoy a special Totally Devon Menu from 9 to 23 September, available at lunch or dinner.

The Jack in the Green – An Evening of Cider, Food & Fun

14 September 14: 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Enjoy an evening of fine food and cider at the renowned East Devon gastropub.

Meet the Miller, The Baker, and The Chutney Maker at Otterton Mill

10 September: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Millers will be on hand showing visitors how a one-thousand-year-old tradition continues to this day at Otterton Mill. Waterhouse Fayre and other local suppliers to the Mill will be on hand to celebrate the fantastic produce for visitors to try.

Steak Masterclass and Lunch at High Grange Devon

10 September: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

After a welcome drink in this beautiful setting, Luke Vandore-Mackay, owner of High Grange Devon and former head chef at Borough Market, will show you how to source, butcher, and cook the perfect steak. Then sit down at the communal table and enjoy a delicious meal.

Taste of Devon Lunch Menu at Mickeys Beach Bar and Restaurant

11 – 22 September

Mickey’s Beach Bar and Restaurant will have a lunch menu showcasing the best of what Devon has to offer from a range of seafood, meats, and vegetables.

THE PIG-at Combe – Kitchen Garden Tours & Lunch

11 September: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Kitchen Garden Tour with the head kitchen gardener. Coffee or tea on arrival and sharing flatbreads afterward in the Folly.

Party at THE PIG

17 September: 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Late summer party with live music, local beer and wine, and festival-style food in the grounds of the PIG at Combe

Lyme Bay Winery and Quicke’s Cheese Tasting (Multiple Dates)

12 – 21 September

Think you know your wine and cheese pairings? Learn the best mouthwatering combinations of Lyme Bay Winery award-winning English wines with artisan producer Quicke’s cheeses.

There are five dates on offer and three sessions per day.

Garden BBQ at Heron Farm

13 September: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Garden BBQ and live acoustic music at Heron Farm.

Party in the Vineyard at Heron Farm

24 September 24: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Enjoy a family party in the Vineyard with outdoor feasting, special guests, live music on the terrace, and children’s games and entertainment.

The Gut Health Revolution with Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and Darts Farm

13 September: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will host a series of talks and tastings at Darts Farm. Speakers include Barny Butterfield of Sandford Orchards and Rachel de Thample, an expert on all thing fermentation, gut health, and wellness; from teas and tonics to broths and remedies.

Knife and Pork at The Nightjar Inn

20 September: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Enjoy a special menu showcasing fabulous local pork supplied by Kenniford Farm.

Smallicombe Farm Pig Keeping Course with Lunch

21 September: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Learn about all aspects of pig keeping from selecting an ideal pig, husbandry, housing, and all the legal requirements. You will also have a chance to get hands-on with the herd and taste the results over lunch.

Smallicombe Farm – Farm to Fork Family Experience and Lunch (2 sessions)

23 September 23: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm

A family focussed farm experience where you can help feed the pigs, poultry, and sheep. Walk the fairy farm trail and play in the play areas. The experience will include a light lunch using produce from our farm.

Two sessions: 9.30 am – 12.30 pm or 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm

Distillery In Action & Cocktails at Two Drifters Distillery

23 September: 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Come and see all aspects of the distilling process in action. From the fermentation to the distilling, spicing, aging, bottling, and tasting, it will all be on show.
