About Us

Devon’s multi-award-winning day out for the whole family at World of Country Life, Exmouth!

With an amazing mix of animals, play areas, museums, and entertainment, World of Country Life in Exmouth really does have something for the whole family to enjoy.

Animals
Before becoming a visitor attraction back in 1978, World of Country Life was a working farm. Visitors today can experience a range of really hands-on activities with the animals still living there. Bottle-feeding lambs and calves, walking an African Pygmy Goat on a lead, hand-feeding the red deer and alpaca on the Deer Train, and animal handling with the rabbits, guinea pigs, and hedgehogs are examples of some of the ways in which you can interact with the animals. There are also donkeys, ponies, wallabies, pigs, rheas, alpacas, and a wide range of ground birds and birds of prey for visitors to see.

Play Areas
There are three different age-specific soft play areas as well as a full-sized wooden pirate ship all undercover providing over two acres of indoor play. Outside there are trampolines, swings, slides, a zipline, roundabouts, seesaws, a massive Air Bouncer, the Combine Clamber, a full-sized wooden combine harvester play area, and Dougie the Digger where you can climb aboard our full-size Digger.

Museums
World of Country Life embraces its heritage with a museum of working farming machinery from days gone by, housed next to a mocked-up Victorian street (as featured on BBC’s The One Show as part of the Sid Valley Reminiscence project) complete with thatched cottages, blacksmith’s forge, and pub! Alongside the farming museum is the Museum of Transport; an impressive collection of vintage and classic vehicles, steam engines, and tractors featuring the Reg Imray Motorcycle Collection and a number of TV celebrities too – the charabanc bus used in the filming of Downton Abbey, Daimler used in Mr Selfridge and the Humber used in the recent remake of Howard’s End!

Entertainment
A daily activity programme and regular special events throughout the year mean that there is always something fun to get involved with at World of Country Life! Daily shows include the fantastic Hawkridge Birds of Prey flying display and Total Wipeout Ferret Racing and regular special events include Star Wars Day, the very popular Father’s Day welly wanging competition and – the biggest event of the year – the West Country Classic Vehicle Club Vintage & Classic Vehicle Rally.

With so much to do – both outside and undercover – World of Country Life is an excellent all-weather attraction. And with so much variety – can you do it all in a day?!
