Visit “I travelled 66 million years to be with you and then you came” by Anne Duk Hee Jordan. The sculpture is part of Bodies of Water, a major new series of public art commissions curated by leading public art organisation, UP Projects.
Installed at the National Trust’s A la Ronde in Exmouth, I travelled 66 million years to be with you and then you came explores the politics of water and the notion that it moves in cycles, flowing from the environment through humans and other organisms.
The sculpture features giant barnacle forms crafted from materials that will naturally filter rainwater, including Roman concrete, biochar, shell fragments and zeolite.
Informed by collaborations with local scientists and communities, it shows how natural materials can purify water, as birds and insects can drink from water collected and filtered by the sculpture.
