Learn a new skill this Spring! Take a look at our wide range of new workshops, from sculpture to book binding, drawing to Easter crafting.
Cardboard Portrait Workshop Saturday 28th March, 11am – 3pm: Sculptor James Lake will help you sculpt a life-size 3D cardboard portrait. James will guide you through building a structure to support the finer detail of the face. Using pre-prepared shapes from reclaimed cardboard, you will develop your own personal language of sculpting with cardboard. Come away with a life-size head portrait, along with the skills to repeat the process in your own time.
Easter Holiday Workshop Saturday 4th April 11am – 2pm: Egg decorating workshop for Easter Saturday! Colour and pattern egg shells to take home. Family drop-in workshop for all ages! FREE, donations welcome.
Booking Binding Workshop Saturday 18 April, 11am – 3pm: An introduction to book binding with artist Marcus Davies, suitable for beginners. Start with simple bookbinding techniques to make concertina books and then develop these skills to make more complex books with a jacket. Improve your basic craft skills and open up the possibilities of making books for specific purposes such as illustrated children’s books or your own sketchbook. £50 / £45 THG Friends
Drawing Workshop Saturday 2nd May, 2pm – 4.30pm: Measuring workshop with exhibiting Alex Cree. Alex will demonstrate the different ways artists can “measure” reality and transpose these measurements into a drawing. Opportunity to try out different techniques during this inspiring drawing workshop. £50/£45 THG Friends. All materials provided.
