This spring, Hugh Dunford Wood, one of the UK’s only handmade wallpaper practitioners, will be doing his famous Wallpaper Workshop once again at The School of Art & Wellbeing. He will be sharing the secrets of creating a repeating pattern and the principles of transforming a simple plant drawing into a design. Learn the theory by cutting a lino-block in order to print your own wallpaper. No prior experience or specialist equipment needed, you go home with your first block and print and the knowledge and ability to continue on your kitchen table.
Over two full days and an introductory evening, Hugh will guide ten lucky designers in creating their own handprinted wallpapers from lino blocks that they will design, cut and print to all of our delight and amazement. In our previous years, one attendee reported that she had not had so much fun since she was a teenager, another warned that on her return home she was going to redesign her rooms, her family and her dog. So beware, this weekend workshop is serious fun and can lead to an addiction to pattern making.
If you’re still on the fence about this wonderful opportunity, this article will give you an idea of what the course is like.
£380 includes all materials, worksheets, and you take away your block and print.
If arriving by train, lifts to and from Honiton station are also included, we just need your arrival/departure time in advance.
We will provide both evening dinners but please bring food for your lunches. There is a large Tesco nearby. Beverages are flowing all day with Hugh’s now famous home-made biscuits.
