An introduction to the art of Japanese flower design using simple autumn materials. Ikebana is the ancient Japanese tradition of floral design. The workshop will include a brief explanation of Ikebana, a demonstration and the chance to make your own design using your flower materials. You will need to bring a selection of flowers and branches, scissors or secateurs, an ikebana container (if you have one) or dish, and a kenzan (flower frog, pin holder; available for sale if needed). The instructor, Hitomi Phillips, is a qualified instructor of the Ikenobo School of Ikebana and a Special Member of the Ikenobo London Chapter and the Headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.
